Thinking about Thinking (What's the Meta?)
Thinking about Thinking (What's the Meta?)
One wonders
Is it true to say,
"I think, therefore I am."
Is it the thought itself
That makes me who I am?
For the more I sit and watch
What runs through my mind
I really don't think
I can claim much of it as mine.
So much chatter and cluttered words
As if my emotions had their own stories to shout.
Ripples of what has been and gone, and
Echoes of many futures that no one will ever live out.
Maybe then, I could say,
"I observe thoughts, therefore I am."
But then what is left as me,
If I am not my thoughts?
