Let my Life be a Bonsai Tree

Let my life be a bonsai tree,

and me its caretaker;

neatly and deliberately,

let me nurture and shape it,

transforming

its gnarly visage

and unruly tendencies

into veritable perfection;

let me safeguard it,

indoors,

so that it might someday flourish

-oh, my darling potted plant-

in the wilderness.
